Yesterday I competed in an elective Banked Slalom event and placed 5th which was pretty cool. This type of course is very tight and technical like a Slalom course but you ride along embankments down the course.
It was a great way to end my week. I realized at all my events the competitors from parts of the U.S. that have a longer practice season, definitely have an advantage.
For practicing on local small hills and an unpredictable winter, I feel really good about how I did. It’s hard to believe that this year we practiced only a week before our first local event because there was no snow.
I know what I need to work on to get better as the competition at this level will only get harder. My training and equipment will definitely make a huge difference for next year if I want to change my goals.
After nine days of riding in the most amazing mountains, it was so hard to leave.
I had a great experience and thank my parents, family, friends, coaches and all of you for all the support on this national opportunity.
I hope to see more of my classmates from West Bend High School join us next year on this awesome adventure. It’s something you will never forget.
