Students from Japanese sister city enjoy a day at Miller Park | By Jodi Liddicoat

August 3, 2017 – West Bend, WI – For the next five days a dozen families in West Bend will host students from the Japanese sister city of Aisho-cho.

The Liddicoat family is hosting Shoma Hata… and they’re having a ball. Story and photos below by Jodi Liddicoat.

Shoma Hata- Japanese student enjoying his first baseball game at Miller Park.

Keegan Liddicoat, 15, and Avery Liddicoat, 11, posed with Shoma at Miller Park.

This is our fourth student from Japan.  My old co-worker had done the exchange program for many years and said what a great experience it was for her and children.

The communication issue – we’ve been lucky;  all of our students have been really good with English. We do a lot of rephrasing and laughing. Google translator and pictures of items works well too.

This is not only a great culture experience for the Japanese student but it also is teaching culture to the host families.
