Campbellsport, WI – According to the calendar spring arrives this year on Wednesday, March 20. It’s a great day for all of us to get out to celebrate this changing of the seasons.
Join Jackie Scharfenberg, retired DNR Naturalist, and Tom Lentz, volunteer Master Naturalist, on March 20, at 6:30 p.m. for a sunset walk along the two-mile Tamarack Trail to explore how nature welcomes spring back to Wisconsin.

We will meet at the Mauthe Lake Recreation Area picnic shelter located at N1490 County Road GGG, Campbellsport. Make sure to come dressed for the weather. In the event of severe weather, the hike will be cancelled.
We will search for the skunk cabbage flowers poking their way out of the wetland mud and the fuzzy pussy willow buds.
We will listen for the bugling rattle of the sandhill cranes and the call of the killdeer. Participants may catch the damp earth smell of spring and feel the warmth of the setting sun. There may even be a special taste of spring to end the hike.
Mark your calendars to join us to welcome spring back to our neck of the woods.
Remember a Wisconsin State Park System vehicle admission sticker is required to park at Mauthe Lake. If you have any questions, please email the Friends of the Kettle Moraine at friendsofthekettlemoraine@gmail.com
