A bit of presidential history:
James Buchanan was the 15th President of the United States.
He was elected in 1857 and served one term until 1861.
Buchanan was elected prior to the Civil War and the hot topic at the time was the effort to abolish slavery. Click HERE to read more.
Gerald Ford was the 38th President of the United States and he was sworn into office in 1974 succeeding President Nixon who resigned.
Ford continued as he had in his Congressional days to view himself as “a moderate in domestic affairs, a conservative in fiscal affairs, and a dyed-in-the-wool internationalist in foreign affairs.” A major goal was to help business operate more freely by reducing taxes upon it and easing the controls exercised by regulatory agencies.
