Smoky kitchen fire extinguished on N. University Drive in West Bend | By Kenny Asselin

October 27, 2020 – West Bend, Wi – On Tuesday, October 27, 2020 at 2:30 a.m. the West Bend Fire Department was dispatched to a three-story apartment building on N. University Drive in City of West Bend for smoke coming from an apartment on the second floor.

Engine 1, Truck 2,  Battalion 1 responded.  The cause was burnt food on the stove.

The occupant admitted to falling asleep while cooking.

Fire Prevention Week was October 4-10 and the theme this year was, “Serve Up Fire Safety in the Kitchen.”

Neighbors are reminded to never use the stove or oven to cook when they are tired.

This incident could have been disastrous for the occupant as well as other residents in the apartment building.
