January 9, 2025 – Slinger, Wi – The Slinger School Board selected a new member to fill the remaining term of Cherie Rhodes, who stepped down December 1, 2024, after serving 13 years on the Board.
Four people interviewed for the position including Trista Bringa, Desiree Rahmlow, David Kamine and Chris Goeman. Following a 25-minute interview process the board voted by paper ballot and selected Goeman to fill the term.
During the roundtable interview Goeman said the issue that motivated him to serve was having strong teachers, a strong board, and top-notch safety to make sure kids can learn and not be in fear.
Goeman has owned and operated his own business, Goeman’s Rapid Mart on Highway 60, for 10 years. He said he deals with people on a daily basis, including customers and staff and felt he could strong people skills and common sense thinking to the board.
Goeman has been involved locally in fundraising including fish fries for Slinger band, S.A.M.B.A., and he volunteers at St. Peter School and Parish.
Goeman praised the board for overseeing a well-run school district.
Goeman will serve out the rest of the term for Cherie Rhodes. He will then have to run for office in 2026 when the term expires if he wants to remain on the board.
On a side note: Candidates running in the April 2025 Spring Election had to turn in paperwork and appropriate signatures by Tuesday, January 7, 2025. In the Slinger School District three board members were up for election including Roman Weninger, Gary Feltz, and Heidi Lofy. All will be uncontested in April.

January 9, 2025 – Slinger, Wi – A special meeting will be held January 9, 2025, as the Slinger School Board interviews applicants to fill the seat recently vacated by Cherie Rhodes. Four people applied including Trista Bringa, Desiree Rahmlow, David Kamine and Chris Goeman.
Slinger, WI – Slinger School Board member Cherie Rhodes submitted a letter of resignation after serving 13 years on the school board.
After much reflection, I have made the decision to step down from my position on the Slinger School Board, effective December 1st.
It has been an incredible honor to serve this community for the past 13 years. As a longtime resident and proud parent of two Slinger graduates, I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to work alongside so many dedicated staff members, parents, and community members.
I have been proud to wear the colors of the Owls and stand with all of you in support of our schools. Our district continues to thrive—whether it’s through our exceptional academic achievements, the growth of our students, or the unwavering commitment of our staff. We’ve come a long way, and I’m immensely proud of everything we’ve accomplished together.
The Board will discuss the timeline for selecting a replacement at an upcoming meeting. I look forward to supporting a smooth transition and am confident that the future of our district will continue to be bright.
