Slinger Owls start the season with a win | By Ron Naab

 

August 17, 2018 – Slinger, WI – The Slinger Owls hosted the Whitefish Bay Blue Dukes to start the 2018 season of Northshore Friday night Football.

 

The Owls took an early lead with 6;21 left in the first quarter on a 28-yard pass play from quarterback Danny Breuer to No. 24, Hayden Wagner.

However, a little more than 4 minutes later Whitefish Bay quarterback Jack Stecker made a 1-yard run for 6 points and the point after kick was good for a score at the end of the first 12 minutes WFB leading Slinger 7 – 6.

In the second quarter with 4:50 seconds of play time completed Slinger scored the only other score of the night on a 3-yard run by No. 17, junior Travis Dufour, followed by a successful 2-point conversion PAT.

Final score was Slinger 14 and Whitefish Bay 7.

The game was pretty much dominated by defense on both ends of the field.

Next Friday, Aug. 24 the Owls will travel to Nicolet for their second game of the season.
