August 22, 2024 – Slinger, Wi – The Slinger girls tennis team took on Watertown this week, leaving with a 4-3 win.
All four singles players swept the competition, with both Taylor Longdin and Natalie Stuettgen at No. 2 and No. 3 singles playing quick matches, finishing with a score of 6-1, 6-1.
With an attempted comeback in the second set by Watertown’s No. 1 singles, Ryanna Bilgrien, Rachel Olafsson closed it off, winning 6-0, 6-3, while Slinger No. 4 singles, Natalie Nickel, remains undefeated after bringing home a 6-0, 6-1 victory.
The match of the day was undoubtedly the No. 2 doubles team of Addison Gresbach and Megan Pfeifer. They battled through a two-hour match, splitting sets 3-6, 7-5. The Goslings ultimately took the win in a 10-point tiebreak.
Coming up, Slinger High School hosts the varsity county tournament on Saturday.
Anticipate good tennis starting at 8:30 a.m. at the Slinger High School Campus.
