February 17, 2025 – Slinger, WI – On Saturday, February 15 the Slinger High School Varsity Cheer team traveled to Hartford Union High School for the WACPC Preliminary competition.
Our season started in early May with tryouts. Throughout the summer the cheer team was taught choreography, learned new cheers and sideline dances in preparation for the 2024 football season. We also participated in a UCA 2-day camp where we learned choreography and cheers and where multiple cheerleaders made All-American.
This led to two of our cheerleaders, Adeline Bretz and Haylee Landon, to travel to London for the London New Year’s Day Parade. This past fall, the Slinger Football Team expanded the season to the greatest of lengths by not only making it to the WIAA D2 State Championship but winning it as well. This was an amazing experience for the entire cheer team to cheer on our team, rally the crowd and perform a halftime in the one and only Camp Randall.
Throughout this extended football season, we had to start preparing for competitions. We learned our Game Day routine from Lauren Tuska and Cheer Dance, a new division for our team, from Annalise LAST NAME.
We began our competition season in December at Indian Trails This Is IT competition where we started off strong placing First in Cheer Dance and Second in GameDay. We continued to practice together and at home for hours every week, making adjustments after reviewing input we’d received from judges after each competition.
A highlight came at the middle of our season when we competed at the Appleton Lightning Cheer Competition. This competition was a huge success for the team as we won 1st Place in both Cheer Dance and Game Day divisions and came home as the Grand Champions of the entire competition. Achieving this was great motivation for the entire team.
We are very excited to compete Saturday, February 22, and show our Slinger Pride.

I am so proud of everything this team has accomplished so far. This team truly is so fun and supports each other completely, I am going to miss cheering for the Owls greatly. We are incredibly grateful for all of the community support, including the football moms during our fall season, Bill Sincere, our amazing bus driver who goes above and beyond, our coaches Amy Bretz and Kathy Kalupa for truly committing so much to this team, and all of our parents for supporting us. We hope to see you at DeForest High School this Saturday. Watch for times posted on our Instagram and Facebook platforms. Go Owls!
