November 24, 2021 – On November 23, 2021 at approximately 1:40 p.m., the Washington County Sheriff’s Office Communication Center received a 911 call from a homeowner in the area of Wallace Lake Road and S. Indian Lore Road stating they had heard a pop outside and found their shed and leaves on fire outside of their house.
Deputies and Newburg Fire were subsequently dispatched to the scene.
Upon the first deputies arrival, the fire was found to be quickly spreading in the dead leaves on the ground and traveling towards another residence.
Deputies used their extinguishers to attempt to slow the fire, however the fire overtook a shed on an adjacent property. Deputies continued to attempt to protect the surrounding houses and stop the spread by creating fire lines around the active fire.
Newburg Fire arrived and activated a MABAS response to the working still level. The brush fire was then controlled and shed fires were extinguished with no additional property loss.
Newburg Fire was assisted West Bend Fire, Slinger Fire, Jackson Fire, Fillmore Fire, Saukville Fire, Grafton Fire and Fredonia Fire.
At this time, it is believed the cause of the fire was an electrical wire that powered the shed where the initial fire started that became disconnected from the pole.
There are no property loss estimates at this time.
