January 12, 2023 – Washington Co., WI – Dear Friends, once again, a new year begins. We feel refreshed, with a new sense of hope that the new year will be better than the last. We make resolutions to improve, or perhaps practice more discipline in our lives.
My goal has been, and will continue to be, keeping Saving Our Samaritan in clear view of the public’s eye.
S.O.S. has been a signal of distress for well over 100 years. For those who fight for Samaritan’s future to exist, it couldn’t be more appropriate. Save Our Samaritan is our goal, and motto. This facility is among the dwindling few of County run facilities still in operation.
It appears that government, and society in general, do not care about the aging public. The federal government fails to support facilities that provide care for the aging and disabled.
In the news you hear about federal government student loan forgiveness.
Now Washington County is providing $6.75 million for “future generations,” and the homeless. They are building and supporting the future and quality of life in our County. Why are the aging and disabled not as deserving of a decent quality of life as their life’s clock winds down?
Should we be put on a chunk of ice in Lake Michigan as the Eskimos once did with their aging? Have we outlived our usefulness to our people? How can this happen to inhabitants of the greatest country on earth?
You, the Washington County residents, hold the key to Samaritan’s future. Your voices of support for Samaritan need to reach your district supervisor: (262)335-4301. Without your support, this special respite of compassion and care might be gone forever. I speak not only about the residents who live here now, but for those in the future.
Sincerely yours,
Debra Kison
Samaritan Resident
