May 24, 2021 – Washington Co., WI – Washington County Executive Josh Schoemann is expected to issue a statement early this week in connection with a May 12, 2021 vote by the Washington County Board regarding safety improvements at STH 175, STH 83 and CTH S. The 22 – 4 super-majority vote passed after supervisors agreed to take the CTH W extension off the table.
Schoemann met with the Wenninger and Gehring families on Friday, May 21 and reportedly told them the CTH W extension was off the table and would not be vetoed. Under the new form of government in Washington County, as an elected county executive Schoeman can veto any portion of the vote from the May 12 meeting.
It was during that last county board meeting when friends, families and farmers packed the gallery and overflow room to voice their displeasure at county government using eminent domain to take land from a working farm to build a road connecting STH 175 and STH 83.
There is a Public Works Committee meeting on Wednesday, May 26, 2021. There is one action item: Resolution County Trunk S relocation order.
The one concept map included in the agenda packet is the diagram below…. which still includes the CTH W extension.
