Hartford, WI- The Hartford Rotary Club and Hartford Union High School announced Sydney Harris and Diana Schallock were honored recently as Rotary Students of the Month. The students were given special recognition for their accomplishments at the club’s noon meeting in May.
Rotary student of the month Sydney Harris is the daughter of Kate and Jason Harris. Harris played volleyball for all four years and softball and basketball her freshman and sophomore year at HUHS. Harris was named WVCA All-Academic for volleyball during her junior and senior year. She is involved in the National Honor Society, the Environmental Club, and H-club. Harris is a member of the marching band where she spins with the color guard.
Harris has volunteered for multiple organizations the last few years. They include: Play4Cade, the Dodge County Dairy Brunch, HUHS volleyball camp, Hartford volleyball club camps and tune ups, Sting volleyball youth camp, concessions for sporting events, decorating downtown Hartford for the Christmas season, shopping and helping organize toys for the Christmas Committee and the HUHS toy drive, baking for local bake sales, and bell ringing for the Salvation Army.
Harris will be attending the University of Wisconsin River Falls in the fall of 2024, studying Pre-Veterinary medicine. She aspires to become a wildlife veterinarian, rehabilitating and caring for wild animals.

Rotary student of the month Diana Schallock is the daughter of Bobbie Jo and Willard Schallock. Schallock has been very active in the following co-curricular activities at HUHS: Varsity Girls Golf (Gr. 9, 10,11,12), Varsity Girls Soccer (Gr. 9,10,11,12), National Honor Society (Gr. 11,12), and Hartford United Club Soccer (Gr. 9,10,11,12). She was named MVP of the HUHS Girls Golf team her junior year and received the Best Teammate Award her senior year. Schallock was the captain of the girls varsity soccer team during her junior and senior year and was the captain of the girls varsity golf team her senior year. Schallock was named Academic All State High Honors for girls golf her junior and senior year and selected as a WIAA Scholar Athlete her senior year.
Schallock has given back to her community by helping at the Shamrock Shuffle, the Pink Pumpkin Run, the Salvation Army Bell Ringing campaign, the annual Toys for Tots drive, the annual Food Pantry drive, and Special Olympics. She has also volunteered her time working at the HUHS concession stand for sporting events and at local youth soccer camps.
Next year, Schallock will be attending UW-La Crosse majoring in Diagnostic Medical Sonography on a Pre-Medicine track. She eventually plans to get her doctorate and become an OB/GYN.
