The run celebrates Rettler’s 31-year running streak, and this year more than 250 participants signed up.
“I’m lucky enough to have been blessed with another year of my streak,” said Peter Rettler, who is also a member of the Kewaskum Remembers 9/11, Inc. board of directors.
“I’m grateful to all of our sponsors and community members who contributed to exceeding our fundraising goal. It is remarkable to see the support we receive each year from area businesses, community members, friends, and family.”
Rettler’s son Jack also notched a milestone marking his third year of consecutive daily runs. The event exceeded its initial fundraising goal of $15,000, with additional funds allocated to future improvements at the Wisconsin 9/11 Memorial.
The Tunnels to Towers 9/11 Never Forget Mobile Exhibit is an 83-foot tractor-trailer that transforms into a 1,100-square-foot interactive museum. The traveling exhibit provides a powerful educational experience, featuring artifacts, photographs, and firsthand accounts from New York City firefighters who witnessed September 11, 2001.
This initiative aligns with the Wisconsin 9/11 Memorial & Education Center’s mission of educating future generations about the tragic events and lasting legacy of 9/11.
The Wisconsin 9/11 Memorial & Education Center is now coordinating with the Tunnels to Towers Foundation to finalize details for the exhibit which will be on display at MPTC in West Bend, WI. A date for the exhibit’s arrival will be announced soon.
December 31, 2021 – Kewaskum, WI – The Rettler Run is set for Friday, December 31, from noon to 3 p.m.; it will benefit the Wisconsin 9/11 Memorial & Education Center.
The event is headed by Pete Rettler, the dean of Moraine Park Technical College’s West Bend Campus, who has not missed a single day of running in almost 28 years.
