“The contractor came in and spoke with us and now he has to talk to the zoning administrator to move forward with the concept plan,” said Town of Barton Plan Commission chairwoman Kris Turner.  “The developer wanted to see what zoning is allowed.”

The early proposal was for a 300-seat event hall. Preliminary designs may use part of the current barn structure and may include a bed and breakfast.

Turner said the next step is for the concept plan for an event hall to go before Town of Barton zoning to see if it’s feasible. The next zoning meeting is January 2024.

On another note, the Town of Barton reviewed a special use application for the strip mall, 7515 Friendly Drive as a church wanted to lease the space. Many will remember the location as the former home of MidCities Motorsports.

The agenda read: “Discussion and action: to consider the Special Use Application for Pete Wiedmeyer Real Estate LLC for a Special Use Permit under the Town of Barton Zoning Ordinance. This hearing is to allow the applicant to allow the operation of a “Church or other places of worship” at Tax Key Number T02-0460-00C, part of the SW ¼ of the NE ¼ of Section 34, Town 12, Range 19 in the Town of Barton further described in DOC 1272173.The property is more generally described as the parcel at 7515 Friendly Dr.”

This is a working story, and more information will be posted when details become available.
