Associated Bank is the second bank to close in Slinger, Wi, as Horicon Bank closed its office on Highway 60 earlier this fall.

On a history note: State Bank of Slinger is pictured below from 1920. That building at the intersection of Washington Street and Kettle Moraine Scenic Drive was constructed in 1905 according to an article by Larry Gundrum in the book ‘Schleisingerville to Slinger 1869 to 2019.’

According to the article, ‘The State Bank of Slinger remained on the corner until the new bank was built at 300 E. Washington Street in 1976.’

A photo hanging at the Slinger Public Library shows the original site of the State Bank of Schlesingerville around 1906. This bank building, according to the Gundrum article, was ‘referred to as the Madigan Building’ and it was constructed in 1904.

‘Eventually a second bank named the Farmer’s State Bank was established in Schleisingerville in 1913,’ according to the Gundrum article.

It was in 1932 when the two banks merged into the State Bank of Slinger. It was in 1984 when the banks became Farmer’s and Merchants Bank.

It was 1992, when Farmer’s and Merchants Bank merged into Associated Bank and operated out of 300 E. Washington Street in Slinger, Wi.
