Washington Co., WI – As local governments prepare their budgets for 2025 and review property tax increases and possible operational referendums in April 2025, neighbors across West Bend, WI, and Washington County, WI, are nervous about We Energies imminent plans for rate hikes in 2025 and 2026. According to We Energies spokesman Brendan Conway the PSC is expected to make a decision on the increases by the end of the year, 2024. Neighbors chimed in about how they will be impacted.

Early data from We Energies shows residents would see a monthly increase of $7.42 on top of a normal bill in 2025; that would increase another $8.07 a month in 2026 for a total increase of 23.6% or an additional $15.49 per month.
Wisconsin Gas customers would see a monthly gas increase of $4.33 on top of their normal bill in 2025 and up and average $6.29 a month in 2026 for a total increase of 14.78%.
We Energies will also impose an electric increase.
The reason for the increases are 3-fold including reducing customer outages, building infrastructure, and meeting new EPA rules.
We EnergiesAccording to We Energies the electric bill for a typical home would go up $11 per month in 2025, then $8 in 2026. The monthly gas bill would go up $8 per month in 2025.
