The folks at Enchantment in the Park knew it was coming but Abby Hovorka, 24, did not. Jacob Mueller, 22, of Richfield had been planning for weeks to pop the question under the brilliant setting of holiday lights at Enchantment.
“The original plan was to ask her on the carriage ride, but lighting for the photographer didn’t work,” Mueller said.
This past week, Mueller talked with organizers at Enchantment in the Park about getting a solo ride in the horse-drawn carriage so he could propose to his girlfriend. The pair climbed aboard at 9 p.m. on Saturday but when they pulled in after the ride there was little emotion from Hovorka.
The pair exited the carriage and walked arm in arm towards the Silver Lining Stage where the proposal eventually went down.
“I had no idea,” Hovorka said crying. “He asked if I wanted to go for a romantic walk. We got off the carriage and he grabbed my hand and said, ‘let’s go this way’ and so we walked over here.”
Mueller was still breathing rather heavy from the nervous excitement so Hovorka took over.
“He kept asking me if I was having fun and I’m like – well yeah. And then he said, one more question and then he got on his knee and I was like ‘Oh my God.'”
