Pilot dies following plane crash in Fond du Lac Co., WI | By Sgt Andrew Kohlmann

September 3, 2024 – Fond du Lac Co., WI – On Monday, September 2, 2024 at 8:31 p.m., the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office received a multiple reports of a possible plane crash near the area of Townhall road and Highway 45 in the Township of Auburn, Fond du Lac County, Wisconsin.

Deputies responded to the area when an additional witnesscalled 911 and indicated they had located the small aircraft and the pilot in the middle of a cornfield.


The pilot appeared to have significant injuries and was trapped in
side the aircraft.

At this time deputies and Campbellsport firefighters were able to locate the downed aircraft and extricate the pilot.

An additional ambulance was requested from the City of Fond du Lac and a helicopter was called from Theda to transport the pilot.

 

The pilot was removed from the aircraft and EMS personal started to treat the pilot’s injuries. Unfortunately, the pilot  succumbed to his injuries before he was able to be transported from the scene.

 

The plane crash is still under investigation but does not appear suspicious at this time.

 

The pilot was an 89-year-old male from the Campbellsport area. The aircraft was considered an ultralight fixed wing aircraft powered by a small engine and propeller.

 

Assisting at the scene was Campbellsport Fire Department, Campbellsport Ambulance, City of Fond du Lac Ambulance, and Thedastar with a helicopter.
