Person of interest taken into custody in connection with gas station robberies in neighboring Dodge County

Jan. 5, 2017 – Beaver Dam, WI – The Dodge County Sheriff’s Office has worked closely with the Beaver Dam Police Department investigating three robberies that took place in the last week at a BP Gas Station in the Town of Beaver Dam and Coyote Gas and Liquor in the City of Beaver Dam.

The sheriff’s office will not speak on behalf of the police department related to the Coyote Gas and Liquor robbery, but we are pleased to report a person of interest has been taken into custody on an unrelated issue, in connection with the BP Gas Station robbery.

As this is only a person of interest at this time, the sheriff’s office will not be releasing any names prior to charges being requested of the Dodge County District Attorney’s Office.

The sheriff’s office will not be releasing further information regarding this case as it is an ongoing investigation and it is our primary concern to protect the integrity of the investigation by both agencies involved.

We will continue to investigate these crimes to ensure we can bring the best investigative product possible to the district attorney so appropriate charges may be brought against the perpetrator.  We encourage everyone to stay alert and stay safe and continue to report suspicious activity to law enforcement as we work together toward keeping Dodge County a safe place.

Finally, the sheriff’s office will be continuing its increased directed patrol efforts for the foreseeable future in an effort to curb criminal activities.

Questions may be directed to Sheriff Dale J Schmidt.
