Pellet stove blamed for sparking house fire in Oakfield | By Sgt. Brandon Henning

January 9, 2025 – Fond du Lac Co., WI – On Wednesday, January 8, 2025, at approximately 7:16 p.m., the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office Communications Center received a 911 call in regards to a fire on the outside wall of a residence with flames visible at N3319 Oak Center Road, Town of Oakfield, Fond du Lac County.

The Oakfield Fire Department and Deputies from the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office were immediately dispatched.

Upon arrival of the fire department and deputies, a local resident in the area responded to the scene with a fire extinguisher in attempt to prevent the fire from spreading to the rest of the house.

The Oakfield Fire Department arrived on scene as the fire spread to the attic of the residence. Initial investigation shows the fire started from a wood pellet stove on an outside wall.

Property loss management

The residence sustained significant damage. No fire personnel or civilians were injured. The owners of the property are Jean and Charles Lund.

The Sheriff’s Office and Oakfield Fire Department were assisted by the Sheriff’s Office Communications Center and Alliant Energy.

The following Fire Departments assisted at the scene: Oakfield 1st Responders, Brownsville Fire Department, Lamartine Fire Department, Lifestar Ambulance, and RIT Team 4.
