One person dead following accident on I41 north of Highway 33 | By Washington County Sheriff

 

Dec. 17, 2018 – Town of Addison, WI – On Dec. 17, 2018 at 12:05 pm the Washington County Sheriff’s Office was notified of a single vehicle crash involving a semi, on Interstate 41, north of Highway 33 in the Town of Addison. The initial caller reported that he had not seen any movement in the cab of the semi, and the driver was not exiting.

Washington County Sheriff’s Deputies along with the Wisconsin State Patrol responded and located the Semi approximately a half mile south of Highway DW in the marshy area, west of Interstate 41. Upon contact with the driver, deputies determined that he was in a medical crisis and requested that the Allenton Fire Department Respond along with West Bend Intercept respond to the scene.  Despite medical efforts the driver was declared deceased at the scene.

The investigation revealed that the semi, operated by a 59-year-old New Berlin man, was south bound on I41 when the vehicle left the roadway and entered into the west ditch, struck several small trees, and came to rest. The fuel tanks of the semi sustained damage during the crash and the WI Department of Natural Resources was contacted to assist in the cleanup efforts.

At this time the crash remains under investigation by the Washington County Sheriff’s Office. The name of the driver is not being released at this time pending notification of family.
