February 18, 2020 – West Bend, WI – Velma Y. Casey, (AKA – Casey / Velma Baby) 83, of West Bend, entered the arms of God, Leo, Pat and Mickey on Saturday, February 15, 2020. She passed away at home surround with the love of family.
Velma was born on July 24, 1936 in Lone Rock, WI. to the late Anthony and Elnora (nee Updyke) Shulka. On November 14, 1953, Velma was united in marriage to Leo Casey at the United Methodist Church in Mauston. They celebrated 52 years of marriage. In 1963 they settled in West Bend, WI where they raised six children. Velma was an amazing and loving mother. Throughout this time Velma worked at MIES Products in West Bend. She enjoyed her time there and retired in 2006.
Velma loved to spend time with her sisters, brother-in-law, nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great grandchildren, extended family and friends. In her final years, she enjoyed spending time at the Senior Center, playing games and establishing new and valued friendships. Especially, the support of Barb Janiszewski, a dear and special friend of Velma’s.
Velma is survived by her five children: Jacqueline (Herbert) Krebs of Campbellsport, Daniel Casey, William (Cheryl) Casey, Edward (Lonnie) Casey, and Lori Casey (Dan) all of West Bend. She is also survived by her three sisters: Joann (Glenn) Naumann and Dorothy Wagner, both of West Bend, and Donna Knake of El Roy, WI. She is further survived by 10 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, other special relatives and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband Leo, son Patrick Joseph, parents Tony and Elnora Shulka, brother Jerry Shulka, Sister-in-laws: Rosie Brueggeman of Reesdburg, and Tootie Jorgenson of Mauston.
Funeral Services for Velma will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, February 21 at the Phillip Funeral Home Chapel, 1420 W Paradise Dr West Bend. Visitation will at the funeral home Friday from 11 a.m. until 12:45 p.m. Interment will follow at Washington County Memorial Park.
