January 9, 2020 – West Bend, WI – Todd Averill, 56, of Neillsville, WI, passed away at home surrounded by family on January 6, 2020 after a courageous battle with cancer.
Todd was born on October 19, 1963 to Ralph and Carol Averill in West Bend, WI. Todd has three daughters Brittney, Alexis and Abigail. He loved being a father and would do anything for his children. Anyone who knew Todd knows the abundance of knowledge that he possessed about just about anything. He will forever be looked up to and remembered for his willingness to help others and sharing his knowledge with others.
After graduating from West Bend West High School in 1982, he went on to study Nondestructive Testing at Chippewa Valley Technical College in Eau Claire, WI. After graduation, he landed his first job as an inspector for the Jim Falls Hydro Dam. Then moved to Minneapolis where he accepted a job with Progress Castings as a Quality Control Inspector and then moved into Foundry Engineering.
He then accepted a job in Syracuse, NY at an aluminum foundry. After working there for about a year, Todd decided to move back to Neillsville, WI to raise his family. He worked in HVAC for many years before switching his interests to Wastewater Management.
Todd enjoyed spending much of time at the family lake house on Lake Camelot in Nekoosa, WI doing various things including fishing, boating, and sitting around the fire listening to sports. Todd also enjoyed spending time cooking, doing yard work, building various wooden projects, playing cribbage, and spending time with his family and friends.
Todd was extremely grateful for the support that his daughters, brothers, mother and friends have provided him throughout this extremely hard journey.
Todd was predeceased by his father Ralph Averill, younger brother Kim Averill, Grandparents Frank and Elenore Gengler and Vincent and Cecelia Averill.
He is survived by his mother Carol Averill, brothers Ralph Averill, Terry (Beth) Averill, Jeff (Roxanne) Averill, Jay Averill, three daughters Brittney, Alexis, Abigail, special little friend Aubree Lewis, many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, January 21, 2020 at the United Church of Christ in Neillsville, WI. Pastor Jacoba Koppert will officiate. Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., Monday, January 20, 2020 at the Gesche Funreal Home in Neillsville and again from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., Tuesday morning at the church.
