St. Lawrence, WI – Susan “Sue” Schmidt (nee Gutjahr), 77 of St. Lawrence WI passed away peacefully with her family by her side on December 06, 2024. Sue was born in West Bend, Wisconsin on May 16, 1947 to Arlene (nee Krieser) and Glen Gutjahr.
Sue grew up in the Town of Wayne and attended Kewaskum High School graduating in 1965. Sue married the love of her life, Michael Schmidt on May 3, 1969.
Sue enjoyed volunteering as a 4-H cake decorating leader for 17 years, the St. Lawrence Christian Women’s Society, was an usher at church for 33 years, and was a member of the St. Lawrence Fire Companies Women’s Auxiliary.
Sue enjoyed being a stay at home mom and then working with her friends at Lee Precision for 31 years. Sue loved playing Sheepshead, traveling, and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She was an avid baker – always having a treat available for herself or anyone that stopped over.
Sue is survived by her Husband Michael Schmidt, her three children Connie (Steve) LaSee of Edgar WI, Scott (Andrea) Schmidt of Germantown WI, and Brian (Jennifer) Schmidt of Osprey Fl. Sue is further survived by her cherished grandchildren Stephanie (Justin) Burkholder, Stacey (Eric) Hess, Sarah, Hannah, Rachel and Jonah LaSee; Nathan and Emily Schmidt; Mason and Parker Schmidt and Great-Grandchildren Karissa, Brendal, and Kayla Burkholder. Sue is further survived by her siblings Barbara (Robert “Pobe”) Behnke, James “Jim” (Mary) Gutjahr, Joan (Albert) Fleischman, Ricky Gutjahr, Gregory (Kim) Gutjahr, Cindy (David “Norbie”) Amerling and Timothy “Chuck” (Debbie) Gutjahr, many sisters and brothers-in-law, and other dear family and friends. Sue was proceeded in death by her parents, Grandson Micah LaSee, Brother Michael Gutjahr and niece Christa Fleischman.

Funeral Services for Sue will be held on December 11, 2024, at St. Lawrence Catholic Church (4886 WI-175, Hartford, WI 53027).
Family will greet relatives and friends from 3 p.m. until 5:45 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will Immediately follow at 6 p.m. Interment will take place on Thursday, December 12, 2024, at 10 a.m. at the St. Lawrence Catholic Church Cemetery.
Flowers will be accepted, or memorial contributions may be made to St. Lawrence 4-H Club, St. Lawrence Christian Women or St. Lawrence Parish.
