July 31, 2022 – West Bend, WI – Sally Gene Givens (nee Howard), 96, formerly of West Bend, Wisconsin died Sunday, July 31, 2022, at The Residences of Timber Pines in Spring Hill Florida.

She was born January 30, 1926, in Woodstock, Ohio to Max & Katherine (nee Cheney) Howard.

Sally graduated from The Ohio State University in 1948 and became a teacher. Wanting more, she attended Mayo Clinic and became a Physical Therapist.

Sally joined the U. S. Navy and served as a lieutenant from 1954-1958.

On April 18, 1958 she was united in marriage in the Chapel at Camp Pendleton to James G. (Griff) Givens, having met while both were serving in the U.S Navy. After marriage she left the Navy to concentrate on raising her family. Sally was also an avid golfer and Bridge player. Griff and Sally called West Bend home from 1978 -1994 until moving to Florida to live out their retirement.

Sally is survived by her 3 children: Jay (Marcia) Givens of The Colony, Texas, Ginny Givens of Spring Hill, Florida and Eric (Jill) Givens of West Bend, Wisconsin and 6 grandchildren: Thomas Givens of The Colony, Texas, Colton (Calise) Givens of Aubrey, Texas, Matthew (Sarah) Goshorn of Greendale, Wisconsin, Andrea (James) Dentel of Long Island, New York, Ashleigh (Benjamin) Zarling of West Bend, Wisconsin, Ian (Erin) Givens of Monona, Wisconsin. She is further survived by her 4 great-grandchildren Theodore, Zoey, Brantley and Dylan.

She is preceded in death by her husband Griff Givens, her parents Max and Katherine Howard, her sister Patricia Lehner, her brother-in-law James Lehner and her granddaughter Kelly Goshorn.

A private interment at Bushnell Military Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida is being planned by the family.
