August 18, 2020 – Appleton, WI – William Robinson, age 83, of Appleton, Wisconsin, was called to his heavenly home on August 14, 2020.
William was born in Primghar, Iowa on November 29, 1936 to the late Max and Esther (nee Brandt) Robinson. He attended grade school at Harrison #1 in rural Iowa and graduated from Hartley High School, Hartley, Iowa, in 1954. William then attended Concordia College, St. Paul, Minnesota from 1955-1957 followed by Concordia Senior College, Fort Wayne, Indiana from 1957-1959. William finished his pastoral training at Concordia Seminary, St. Louis, Missouri, graduating in 1963.
On June 25, 1960, William was married to Cora Oelrich at Trinity Lutheran Church in Spencer, Wisconsin. They began their married life while serving a vicarage at Holy Cross, Kansas City, Missouri.
During his ministry, William served congregations in Haven and Racine, Wisconsin. His last churches, where he served for 30 years, were St. Stephen’s, Batavia, and Immanuel, Town Scott, both in Wisconsin. William loved the Lord and served his congregations with a humble heart. Throughout his life, he faithfully shared the message of salvation through Jesus Christ. He also enjoyed playing the organ, music, reading, gardening, woodworking and puzzles. One of his greatest joys was spending time with his family.
William is survived by his wife of 60 years, Cora; his two children, Paul (Jane Haase) Robinson of St. Louis, MO and Elizabeth (Mark) Berg of Appleton, WI; five grandchildren, Emily, Abby, William, James and Martha; two sisters, Wilma (Don) Boldt of Kinston, NC and Marge (Roger) Remmers of Melvin, IA; as well as nephews, nieces, and cousins. William was preceded in death by his parents, Max and Esther Robinson.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, August 19, 2020 at 12:00 pm at Immanuel Lutheran Church Cemetery, Town of Scott. The Reverend Brian Krueger will be officiating.
