October 23, 2023 – Fond du Lac Co., WI – Robert Maurice, 89, of Fond du Lac, unexpectedly died on Saturday, October 21, 2023, at his residence.
He was born at home in Fond du Lac, on October 27, 1933, the son of Hubert and Irene
Wilhelms Maurice. He was a graduate of Fond du Lac Senior High School.
Robert was a veteran of the United States Air Force. While serving he was stationed in the Bahamas, New Mexico, and Arizona where he retrieved air balloons as part of the early days of the NASA program.
On June 21, 1958, he married Judith A. Kaiser at St. Peter’s Ev. Lutheran Church. She preceded him in death on December 27, 2004.
Robert was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. Prior to that he was baptized,
confirmed, and married at St. Peter’s Ev. Lutheran Church. He worked as a technician for
the telephone company and was a member of Telephone Pioneers of America. He was a
lifelong woodworker of quality furniture, crafting items for his children and grandchildren.
He is survived by his children: Debra (Stephen) Groves of Fond du Lac, Scott (Vicky)
Maurice of Longwood, FL, and Brian (Amy) Maurice of Watertown; seven grandchildren:
Nicole, Denielle, Stephen Jr., Daniel, Joshua, Ethan and Collin; seven great-grandchildren:
Daphne, Emmett, Jaxon, Amelia, Greyson, McKenna, and Arlo; his sister Kathleen Kibler
of Fond du Lac, and his special friend Joan Wagner of Fond du Lac.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, his son James, and his brother Ronald.
VISITATION: The family will greet family and friends from 9:00 – 11:00 a.m., on Saturday,
October 28, 2023, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 855 Martin Avenue, Fond du Lac.
SERVICE: Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 28, 2023, at
Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, with Rev. Matt Grunewald officiating. Burial to follow at
Estabrooks Cemetery.
