May 27, 2024 – Washington County, WI – Otto Joseph Quandt, 77, of Hartford, Wisconsin passed away Friday, May 24, 2024, at Crossroads Care Center in Mayville, surrounded by his loving family.
Otto was born July 10, 1946, in Hartford, WI to Amanda A. (nee Frank) and Victor G. Quandt. He attended St. Kilian grade school and Hartford Union High School, graduating class of 1964.
Otto was drafted into the military and served our country in the United States Marines during the Vietnam War. Otto served his country from 1966 -1968 with pride and was an active member of the Hartford VFW Post 8834, American Legion Post 19, and Vietnam Vets. Otto was very thankful to attend the Honor Guard Flight on May 13, 2017, with his brother Jim.
Otto worked for Chrysler Outboard Motors for 20+ years and was a Hartford crossing guard for 30 years. Otto was an avid baseball fan, especially a huge Chicago Cubs fan. He also enjoyed WWF/E -wrestling and playing bingo. Otto will be remembered dearly for his kindness and will be missed.
Otto is survived by his brothers, Elmer of Rubicon and James (Patricia) Quandt of Neosho; nephews and niece, James Jr.; Stacy (Dan) Quandt-Callies, and Garret (Bridgette) Quandt; and great nieces, Jadyn, and Jenna Quandt, Jorja Alioto, Ellis, and Louisa Quandt. He is further survived by his special friend, Carol Krause, among other loved relatives and friends.
Otto was preceded in death by his parents.
Memorial Service for Otto will be held Friday, May 31, 2024, at 1 p.m. at the Shimon Funeral Home, 824 Union Street, Hartford, WI 53027. Family will greet relatives and friends on Friday at the funeral home from 11 a.m.- 12:45 p.m. Committal will be held at 2:45 p.m. at St. John Lutheran Cemetery in Woodland, WI, with military honors.
