August 9, 2022 – West Bend, WI – Matthew Morrison Briggs, 61, of West Bend passed away on August 4, 2022, with his wife at his side.
Matt was born on September 20, 1960, in Houston Texas, the son of the late Richard and Virginia (nee Powell) Briggs. He was united in marriage with Linda Hottenroth on May 2, 1984, in Houston, Texas. His school years were spent living between Toms River, New Jersey, and Glen Cove, Texas.
After high school, Matt enlisted in the Marines where he served honorably from 1979 to 1982. During that time, he was stationed in Washington DC as part of Reagan’s Color Guard and then later was stationed in Okinawa, Japan. After his service, he entered the construction business. He loved camping, hiking, and bike riding.
Those Matt leaves behind to cherish his memory include his wife, Linda Briggs; his three children, Todd (Cheri) Briggs, Virginia (Fiancé Solin Nesslar) Briggs, and Abel Briggs; his brothers Paul (Anne) Briggs and Mark (Susan) Briggs.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandparents, Paul and Marguerite Powell; and his in-laws, Jerry and Patsy Hottenroth, and Todd Hottenroth.
In honor of Matts wishes, no funeral services will be held. He will be interred in a family cemetery in northern Wisconsin at a later date.
