Obituary | Marvin Arnold Feller, 95, of Hustisford

He was born on April 17, 1923 in Hustisford, the son of Arnold and Hilda (Bergmann) Feller.

Marvin married the love of his life, Phyllis (Radloff) Feller on January 24, 1948 at St. Michael’s Lutheran Church in the town of Hubbard. They enjoyed 71 beautiful years side-by-side raising their family, laughing with their grandchildren and soaking up all the blessings life bestowed upon them. He devoted his life to supporting his wife, children and grandchildren. Marvin especially enjoyed chauffeuring his grandchildren to doctor appointments, practices and other extracurricular activities before they got their driver’s licenses, usually with a few stops in between at his favorite car dealerships. He enjoyed sharing the story of how he and Phyllis were king and queen at Hustisford High School’s very first junior prom, given by the Class of 1942. His family will deeply miss his sense of humor and his engrossing stories from his service in the military.

Marvin was a decorated U.S. Army soldier for serving his country in Company K, 117th Infantry Regiment as a machine gunner. He took part in landing on Omaha Beach, fought in the Battle of the Bulge and served as an interpreter for battalion officers in Germany. To honor his service, he was recommended for the Distinguished Service Cross, received the Silver Star Medal for great heroism and gallantry in action. He was also awarded the Bronze Star Medal for meritorious achievement in ground combat during the European Theater Operation.

After the war, Marvin worked at John Deere for 36 years before retiring.

As Marvin once stated, his greatest accomplishment was having a family and coming out of the war alive. We all were blessed to have known and to have been loved by him.

Marvin is survived by his loving wife, Phyllis Feller; his children, George (Charlene) Feller of Lebanon, Jane (Pastor Kenneth) Wenzel of Sun Prairie, Nancy Feller of Illinois; his grandchildren, Christina Gallert, Jill Pfund, Kara Waters, Kimberly Wenzel, Kearen Feller, Charice Finley and Karissa Feller; his great-grandchildren Thea and Rylan Finley, Amelia and William Pfund, Abryanna and Ella Waters, Jade, Cole, Skye, Hope, Kane and Paige Feller.

He was proceeded in death by his parents Arnold and Hilda Feller and his sisters Margaruete Schiller, Ardis Bischoff and Arlene Castillo.

Visitation will be Monday from 10:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. at Bethany Evangelical Lutheran Church in Hustisford. A funeral service will follow beginning at 1:30 p.m.

The family would like your memorials to go to Bethany Ev. Lutheran Church or the Hustisford Public Library. Flowers may be sent to Bethany Ev. Lutheran Church.
