Obituary | Margaret A. “Maggie” Kovacevich, 77, of Hartford

July 15, 2019 – Hartford, WI – Margaret “Maggie” Kovacevich (nee Novak), 77, of Hartford, WI was called home by her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on July 12, 2019 at Clearview Nursing and Rehab in Juneau. Maggie was born to Joseph and Irene Novak (nee Rapp) on June 22, 1942 in Davenport, IA and raised by her Uncle Joe and Aunt Lucille Rapp in Ladysmith, WI.

Maggie attended Ladysmith High School and graduated from Mount Mary College in 1964. On June 6, 1964 she was united in marriage to the love of her life, Douglas Kovacevich, at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church in Ladysmith, WI. Together they raised three beautiful children.

Maggie was a member of Resurrection Catholic Church in Allenton, WI. She took great pleasure in spending quiet time with the Lord, gardening, cooking, teaching art, travelling and especially spending time with her family, friends and loved ones. She and her husband Doug, started and facilitated numerous prayer groups and bible studies around the area and enjoyed teaching confirmation classes to youth. In the summer, they would host “Kuzin’s Kamp” for the grandchildren; complete with matching camp shirts and activities of swimming, fishing, hiking and sightseeing. She was kind, generous and adored her grandchildren.

Those Maggie leaves behind to cherish her memory include her husband Doug; daughter, Mary (Craig) Shortland of Peoria, IL; son, Tim (Linda) Kovacevich of Theresa, WI; daughter-in-law, Lanae Kovacevich of Allenton, WI; nine grandchildren, Neil (Lizzie) Berger, Aaron Berger; Jacob, Lena and Eric Kovacevich; Joshua, Mikaela, Caleb and Carissa Kovacevich; She is further survived by other relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents, Maggie was preceded in death by son, Paul Kovacevich; son-in-law Rick Berger; her brother Bob Novak; and her sister Elaine (Novak) Kenton.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, July 25, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. at Resurrection Catholic Church, 215 N. Main Street, in Allenton. Interment will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery.

Visitation will be at the Myrhum Patten Miller & Kietzer Funeral Home, 1315 W. Washington Street, in West Bend on Wednesday, July 24, 2019, from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. with a Memorial Service at 6:00 p.m.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Clearview Nursing and Rehab for their thoughtfulness, kindness and the loving care that they provided to Maggie.

The Myrhum Patten Miller & Kietzer Funeral Home has been entrusted with Maggie’s arrangements.
