Dec. 26, 2018 – Kewaskum, WI – Leander “Lee” Kempf, 86, of Kewaskum was called home to be with the Lord on December 25, 2018 at New Perspectives Senior Living Community surrounded by his loving family.
Lee was born on January 29, 1932 in New Fane to Erwin and Erna Kempf (Moldenhauer). He was united in marriage to Shirley Staehler on August 18, 1956 at St. Frances Cabrini in West Bend.
Lee graduated from Kewaskum High School in 1949. He served honorably in the United States Army and was overseas in Germany for a number of years. Lee was the owner and operator of LK Heating and Air Conditioning in Kewaskum. He was a charter member of the Beechwood Fire Department and was Assistant Chief. Lee was Commander of the Robert G. Romaine American Legion Post #384 in Kewaskum. He enjoyed coaching and playing softball, singing for special occasions; as well as woodworking, fishing and hunting. Most of all Lee loved spending time with his family.
Those Lee leaves behind to cherish his memory include his wife of 62 years, Shirley; six children; Lynn (Jim) Gaffke, LuAnn (Tim) Potter, Carrie (Al) Copperud, Pam (Jeff) Newhauser, Lisa (Matt) Perkins and Holly (John) Swanson; 17 grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren. He is further survived by siblings, Alan (Janice) Kempf and Carolyn (Jim) Lindemann; brother-in-law, Eddie (Sandy) Staehler; as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents, Lee was preceded in death by his siblings, Marvin (Althea) Kempf and Shirley (Roland) Koepke; brother-in-law, Gerald Staehler; and grandson, Anthony Potter.
Funeral Service for Lee will be held at 2 pm on Sunday, December 30, 2018 at St. John Lutheran Church – New Fane (N683 County Rd. S) with Pastor Mark Eckert presiding. The interment will be at Holy Trinity Cemetery in Kewaskum following the Church service.
Lee’s family will greet relatives and friends at the Fellowship Hall on Sunday from 11 am until the time of service. Memorials to St. John Lutheran Church – New Fane, Holy Trinity School – Kewaskum, Robert G. Romaine American Legion Post #384 or Beechwood Fire Department.
Lee’s family extends their heartfelt appreciation to the staff at New Perspective Senior Living Community and Seasons Hospice for the loving care they provided.
