Obituary | Larry L. Sweetland, 89, of West Bend, WI

August 19, 2024West Bend, Wi – Larry L. Sweetland, 89, of West Bend, WI, passed away on August 18, 2024, at Froedtert West Bend Hospital with his family at his side.

Larry was born on October 13, 1934, in Waukesha, to the late Olin and Lillian (née Wegner) Sweetland. He proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1955 to 1957 with the 5th Cavalry Division.

On April 29, 1967, he married Lila Buche at St. John’s Lutheran Church in West Bend. Larry had a passion for model railroading, even setting up a train track in their living room.

He was an avid fan of the Brewers and Packers, loved fishing, and was a dedicated worker, spending 27 years at Pressed Metal Corporation in Waukesha.

Those Larry leaves behind to cherish his memory includes his wife, Lila; his son, Dion (Laura) Sweetland; his granddaughter, Alishia (Matthew) Ascher; two great-grandchildren, Whitney and Max Ascher; a sister-in-law, Geneva Sweetland; other relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents, Larry was preceded in death by his siblings, Beverly Olin Sweetland, David (Beverly) Sweetland, Betty (Bob) Jones, JoAnne (Bob) Jonas, Sue Sweetland, and Roger (Jean) Sweetland.

 

VISITATION: Larry’s family will greet relatives and friends at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 809 S. 6th Avenue, in West Bend on Tuesday, August 27, 2024, from 10 a.m. until Noon.

SERVICE: A service for Larry will take place at St. John’s in West Bend at Noon on Tuesday. Burial will follow at Washington County Memorial Park in West Bend.

In lieu of flowers, memorial to St. John’s Lutheran Church in West Bend, The Stars and Stripes Honor Flight, or Washington County Humane Society is appreciated.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to the doctors, nurses, and staff at Froedtert West Bend Hospital.
