Obituary | James R. “Jim” Bauer, 75, of Kewaskum

August 29, 2019 – Kewaskum, WI – James R. “Jim” Bauer, 75, of Kewaskum, passed away on Thursday, August 29, 2019, at Kathy Hospice in the town of Polk, with his family at his side.

Jim was born on May 27, 1944, in West Bend, the son of the late Alvin and Rose (nee Devidek) Bauer. On October 16, 1971, he was united in marriage to JoAnn Thill at Holy Angels Catholic Church in West Bend. Jim loved gardening, mowing the lawn, playing cards, sheepshead and his most beloved game, Coufere. He could predict a snowstorm better than any meteorologist around and he enjoyed gambling and going on day trips with JoAnn and their friends. Jim loved going out to eat and always had a good joke to tell.

Those Jim leaves behind to cherish his memory include his wife, JoAnn; three children, Jennifer Sheehy (Steven Rindt) of West Bend, Thomas Bauer of Kewaskum, Michael Bauer of Kewaskum; his mother-in-law, Ann Thill; his in-laws, Donald (Cheryl) Thill, Kathleen (Roger) Mertz, and Robert (Diane) Klesmith; other relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Bauer; a son-in-law, Michael Sheehy; a nephew, Steven Mertz; a niece, Jodi Klesmith; and his father-in-law, Elmer Thill.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Jim will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 4, 2019, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 331 Main Street, in Kewaskum. Rev. Jacob Strand will officiate and burial will take place at 10 a.m. on Thursday, September 5, at Holy Trinity Catholic Cemetery in Kewaskum.

Jim’s family will greet relatives and friends at the church on Wednesday from 3:00 p.m. until the time of Mass.

The family would like to express their appreciation to Dr. Burfeind and Dr. Lacey and the whole cancer center; the wound care staff; and to Kathy Hospice for their wonderful care and concern for Jim.

Memorials can be sent to Kathy Hospice or Interfaith in Jim Bauer’s name.

The Myrhum Patten Miller & Kietzer Funeral Homes have been entrusted with Jim’s arrangements.
