Obituary | James ‘Jim’ Plavec, 74, of West Bend

Feb. 25, 2019 – James “Jim” J. Plavec passed away in the comfort of his home surrounded by family on Saturday, February 23, 2019.

He was born on March 8, 1944 to John and Mary Plavec (nee Krcil) in Tripp, South Dakota. James worked at Tecumseh Products in Grafton, Wisconsin for 38 years, where he met the love of his life, Mary Evers. They married on January 21, 1967, and resided in West Bend until 2004, when they retired to Berlin, Wisconsin.

James enjoyed tinkering in his garage, woodworking, small engine repair, fishing, camping, boating, and spending time with his grandchildren. James was an avid accordionist and button box musician, but his lifelong passion was Harley Davidson Motorcycles. He was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather and friend.

James is survived by his wife Mary, children Mary Jo (William “Bill”) Schanen, Theresa “Terri” (Brian) Dahm, grandchildren Joseph and Jennifer Schanen, sisters Leona MacFarland, Mary Wolf, and Gladys Plavec, brother Michael (Mary) Plavec, sisters-in-law Margret (Gary) Kasten and Darlene Plavec. He is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

James is preceded in death by his parents John and Mary Plavec, siblings Frank, Robert, Joseph, Patricia, John, and brother-in-law Ed Evers.

There will be a Funeral Service for James on Sunday, March 3, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. at the Phillip Funeral Home Chapel (1420 West Paradise Drive, West Bend). A visitation will be held at the Funeral Home from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service.
