West Bend, WI – Palmer “Jiggs” A. Groth, 90 of West Bend was called home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, April 10, 2024.
He was born in the house at Groth’s Country Garden and Greenhouse on August 29, 1933, to the late Henry and Emma (nee Schreiber) Groth in Germantown, WI. Palmer was a farmer his whole life. He also enjoyed cattle hauling and he sold Renk Seed for many years.
Palmer was a long-time member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Jackson. He enjoyed gardening, his fruit trees, making firewood, and driving his golf cart. Palmer especially enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren and will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
Those Palmer leaves behind to cherish his memory include his wife, Doris Groth (nee Janke); five children, Dean (Margo) Groth, Randy (Jean) Groth, Steve (Ann) Groth, Joel (Lori) Groth, and Patrick (Kris) Groth; six step-children, Nancy (Dave) Gonia, Sandra Abbott, James Krueger, Larry Krueger, Linda (Rick) Bruss, and Jeanne (Tom) Bonlander, 17 grandchildren, 20 step-grandchildren, many great grandchildren; six sisters-in-law, LaVerne Groth, Carolyn Abbiehl, Leona Lund, Diane Boehlke, Arlene Boehlke, and Lorna Boehlke; step-daughter-in-law, Tonni (Dave) Baldwin; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his two sisters, Celia (Art) Wendtland and Eleanor (Rollo) Gronemeyer; two brothers, Edward Groth and Harvey Groth; and his first wife of 56 years, Margaret Groth (nee Boehlke).
VISITATION: Palmer’s family will greet relatives and friends on Monday, April 15, 2024, from 1 p.m. until 3:45 p.m. at Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church, 1268 Pleasant Valley Road., West Bend.
SERVICE: A funeral service will follow the visitation at the church at 4 p.m. Burial will follow.
