West Bend, WI – Gregory J. Kirby passed to eternal life on December 11, 2024, at the age of 70. Greg was born February 6, 1954, in Milwaukee, WI to the late William Kirby and Harriet (Hoppen) Kirby.
Greg is survived by his wife Mary (nee Cianciolo), children Kathryn and Nicholas (Fiancé Maria McQuillen), Brother of Michael (Allison) Kirby, Elizabeth (Mark) Karner and the late Mary (Paul) Pytlik, Brother-in-Law to Barbara (Ken) Hahn and Gerald (Louise) Cianciolo and Great Uncle to Amelia Hahn, Matthew Sloan, Emily Sloan, and Alexander Hahn.
Also survived by Nieces, Nephews, and other relatives and many friends. Greg was preceded in death by his sister, Mary (Kirby) Pytlik, nephew, Tyler Pytlik and best friend, Tobin Marek.
Although Greg grew up in Wauwatosa, Greg spent time in Europe, Iceland, and Alaska. With a degree from MIAD, he was fascinated telling stories through photography.
Greg enjoyed many things in life, but nothing beat the joy his kids brought to him. As a dad he loved traveling and showing the kids parts of the United States and Canada.
Even through the lean years of the team, Greg remained a devoted Green Packer season ticket holder. He and best friend Toby often went to Wisconsin Badger Football and Marquette Basketball games.
Throughout his life, Greg was always lending a hand, as a Cub Scout leader, Little League coach, managing the school concession stand and countless hours of helping others.
Greg loved the outdoors. Gardening, tending to his 10 acres and being on the water (listening to Bob Dylan) were his favorite pastimes. Later in life he was a caregiver to several elderly men and on the board of his condo association.
He will be greatly missed by so many different people whom he touched with his warm heart, humor, and generosity.
In lieu of flowers and at Greg’s request, donations in his name will be sent to local veterans and homeless shelters.
The family would like to express gratitude to Dr. Kelly Darmody, a special heartfelt thanks to his hospice nurse, Casey, and the staff of Lilly Hospice. Also, much appreciation to Remi and the Harrison Home.
