Obituary | George “Snipe” Witt, Jr., 92, Theresa

July 5, 2019 – Theresa, WI – George “Snipe” Witt Jr., 92 of Theresa, was called home to be with the Lord on Thursday July 4, 2019.

He was born on May 30, 1927 to the late George T. and Ella A. (nee Kuntz) Witt in Milwaukee WI. The family moved up north to Mellen WI., where he grew up. George honorably served in the United States Navy as a SeaBee during World War II in the Pacific Theater. After the war he moved to Milwaukee. On July 24, 1948 he was united in marriage to Joyce Lawrence at Hope Lutheran Church in Milwaukee. Together they raised their four children. He retired in 1991 from Formart Containers in Cedarburg as the Vice President. George was a life member of the VFW – Fred A. Schaefer Post #1393 in West Bend. He loved the outdoors, hunting and fishing. George liked woodworking, yard work, and tinkering on things; he had the strongest work ethic that he passed on to his children.  He especially loved playing with and teasing with all his grandchildren. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Those George leaves behind to cherish his memory include his four children, Charlene Jensen, Bruce (Lynda) Witt, Sherry Witt, and Christie (John) Nummerdor; 9 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; 9 great-great grandchildren; a brother, Robert Witt; a sister-in-law, Kathleen Witt; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by wife Joyce Witt; a sister, Shirley Sturm; a brother, Howard Witt; a sister-in-law, Pat Witt; a son-in-law, Stephen Jensen; two grandchildren, Trevor and George; and a great grandson, Samuel.

A funeral service in remembrance of George will be held on Saturday, July 13, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at Pilgrim Ev. Lutheran Church, West Bend.

The family will greet relatives and friends at the church on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service.

The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses, and staff at Aurora Medical Center in Hartford for all their excellent help and care.
