February 26, 2020 – Slinger, WI – Egbert “Egi” Strohwig, of Slinger, passed away on Monday February 24, 2020 at the age of 82. He was born on March 1, 1937 in Riga, Latvia to Herbert and Bronislava (nee Bakinovski) Strohwig.
On January 22, 1966 Egbert married Beverly Ninke and the couple began their family. Egi’s hobbies were flying planes (he had a pilot’s license), pheasant hunting in his younger years, listening to music, and he loved attending his grandkids activities and being active in their lives.
Egbert is survived by his children; Gary (Emily) and Michelle Strohwig, grandchildren; Kendra, McKenzie, Alexander and Christina. He is further survived by his brothers Wolfgang (Judith) Strohwig, brother-in-law Lester Neubauer, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Beverly, his brother Siegfried (Corrine) Strohwig, brothers-in-law Warren and Gerald Ninke, sisters-in-law Shirley Neubauer, June Manthey, Virginia Burchs and Jeanne Strohwig.
A Memorial Service for Egbert will be held at 6:15 p.m. on Thursday, March 5 at the Phillip Funeral Home Chapel, 1420 W Paradise Dr. West Bend, with Rev. Mike Matzek presiding. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m.
