Jan. 2, 2019 – Hartford, WI – Dorothy Marie Schlafer (nee Winkleman) age 92 of Lisbon, Wisconsin passed away unexpectedly in her home, Monday, December 31, 2018.
Dorothy was born on August 17, 1926 in Pewaukee, WI to Irene (nee Condon) and Charles Winkleman. She was united in marriage to Wesley E. Schlafer on August 24, 1946 at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Hartland.
Dorothy will be remembered and dearly missed. She was the matriarch of her family, a devoted homemaker to her family. She was blessed with 8 children, 22 grandchildren, and 21 great-grandchildren. She enjoyed cooking, quilting, crocheting, crossword puzzles and spending hours with her family.
Dorothy is survived by her loving children, Ralph Schlafer, Arthur (Deborah) Schlafer, Darlene (Joe) Pillsbury, Jeanette (John) Rehlinger, Geraldine (Dale) Martin, Beverly (Jim) Von Rueden, and Lois (Eric) Henning; dear daughter-in-law, Betty Jane Schlafer; cherished grandchildren, Jeff, Wes, Allan, John, Patricia, Marie, Art, Brian, Sharon, Aaron, Amanda, Elizabeth, Michelle, Charleen, John, Ash, David, Robert, Katrina, Dan, and Brandi; cherished great-grandchildren; dear siblings, Marie Schraufnagel, William Winkleman, and Charles Winkleman, and Betty Dygart. She is further survived by many other loved relatives and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Wesley; and her dear son, Ronald “Ron” Schlafer; cherished grandson, Benjamin Henning; siblings, Ralph Winkleman, Lucille Lembke, and Irene Claas.
Family will greet relatives and friends on Friday, January 4, 2019 at the Shimon Funeral Home (824 Union Street Hartford, WI 53027) from 4:00p.m.-8:00p.m.
Funeral Services for Dorothy will be held Saturday, January 5, 2019 at 11:00a.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church (20851 W. Main Street Lannon, WI 53046) with Pastor Andrew Fix officiating. Additional Visitation will be held at the church on Saturday from 9:00a.m.-10:45a.m. Interment in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Hartford.
