February 11, 2020 – West Bend, WI –Doris M. (nee Bechler) Fick, 77, of West Bend, passed away Sunday, February 9, 2020, at the Samaritan Health Center in West Bend.
She was born on January 18, 1943, to Jerome Bechler and Helen (nee Kempf) Bechler in West Bend, Wisconsin. She graduated from West Bend High School in 1961. Doris attended nursing school in Kenosha following high school and earned her LPN degree.
On March 26, 1966, Doris was united in marriage to Ronald Fick at Bethany Lutheran Church in Kenosha. Together they resided in Kenosha and Milwaukee before moving to West Bend in 1981.
Doris spent several years working as an LPN in the Milwaukee area in the pediatrics department until she was diagnosed with MS. Doris was a member of St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church in West Bend. She enjoyed babysitting for several family members, going out to dinner and to the movies with Ronnie, spending time with her grandchildren, and shopping for bargains. Another passion she had was remembering friends and family members with cards for any and every occasion.
Doris is survived by her two sons, Shawn (Jennifer) Fick of Green Bay and Bryan (Kerry) Fick of Grafton; three grandchildren, Morgan Fick, Hannah Fick, and Abbey Fick; six sisters, Yvonne (Vernon) Hafferman of Sussex, Barbara (Curt) Carter of West Bend, Mary (Ron) Sartler of West Bend, Bonny Bechler of West Bend, Dawn (Greg) Wiesner of West Bend, Denise (Craig) Gruber of Plover; six brothers, Dennis (Marlene) Bechler of West Bend, Donald (Shirley) Bechler of West Bend, Richard (Jane) Bechler of Kewaskum; Randy Bechler of Plover, Jerome (Pam) Bechler of Germantown, Tim (Kim) Bechler of West Bend; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jerome and Helen Bechler; parents-in-law, Arthur and Lorraine Fick; two brothers, Rodney and Ronald Bechler; and her loving husband Ronnie.
Funeral services in remembrance of Doris will be held on Friday, February 14 at 11:30 a.m. at St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church, 809 S. 6th Ave. West Bend. Burial will follow at Washington County Memorial Park. Visitation will be Friday at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of service.
The family would like to thank the staff at the Samaritan Health Center for their loving care of Doris for the past six years.
