Obituary | David J Jonas, 61, of Campbellsport, formerly of Jackson, WI

Campbellsport, WI – David J Jonas, 61, of Campbellsport, formerly of Jackson, WI, was born January 9, 1964, to Ronald and Susan (Pudil) Jonas in Milwaukee.  Passed away in Campbellsport on March 20, 2025 with his wife of 36 years by his side.

Dave

He was born in Milwaukee, moving to Jackson when he was nine years old.  As a child, David was a typical big brother that teased his siblings, had interest in roller skating and repairing cars.  He was active in Boy Scouts both in childhood and when his boys were old enough to join.

David, also known as Dave, or DJ, was active for many years with the Jackson Volunteer Fire Department and Road America Safety Team where he met many friends.

The family enjoyed many years of camping in Watertown.  Also camping, fishing and ATVing trips around Wisconsin.  His campfire cast iron meals will be missed.  In high school, he was in the auto class and furthered his knowledge by attending Moraine Park Technical College.

David worked for Russ Darrow as an auto mechanic and with Wm Deher doing masonry.  When they started a family, he worked in maintenance in the Jackson area, for Jackson Auto Body, Sierra Grinding Wheel, and CraftCast until he was forced into retirement due to illness.  He continued working on cars for Parts Finders and fixing things because one could say he was a jack-of-all-trades.

David met the love of his life, Carolyn (Matthews) while attending West Bend schools.  They married October 1, 1988 and started a family; Dalton (Rebecca) of Manitowoc, Connor (Sam Becker) of Campbellsport.  Dave was very excited to be a Grandpa to his grandsons, Alexander and Benjamin Jonas of Manitowoc.

Further survived by many family and friends:  brother Kevin (Brenda) of Antioch, TN, niece Hailey (Cody) Horsley of TN, sister Jean of West Bend, nephews Luke and Kyle Nettesheim of West Bend; Special Aunt Barb Jonas of West Bend and several other family and friends.

Preceded in death by his mother, father, an infant brother, Ronald Jr, mother-in-law, Alexis Matthews and father-in-law, Ervin Matthews; grandparents and other family and friends.
