OBITUARY | David “Dave” W. Wendt, 74, of Kewaskum, WI

March 19, 2024 – Washington Co., WI – David “Dave” W. Wendt, 74, of Kewaskum, passed away after a courageous battle on Friday, March 15, 2024.

He was born on September 28, 1949, to the late Wilton and Joan (nee Larson) Wendt in Sleepy Eye, MN. Dave grew up and graduated from Fairfax, MN. He worked on the family farm until he joined the Army. He honorably served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He also served in Germany and many locations throughout the Midwest until his honorable discharge after 26 years of service.

On August 25, 1973, he was united in marriage to Judy McFadden in MN. Dave served as a treasurer at his church and was also a member of the American Legion in Fairfax, MN. He loved the outdoors and fishing. Some of his hobbies included raising horses, speaking German, and quoting scripture. He especially enjoyed spending time with family and friends and will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

Those Dave leaves behind to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 50 years, Judy Wendt; two daughters, Shannon (Bob) Martin, and Heather (Mike) Haldemann; three grandchildren, Patrick Martin, Kayla (Jon) Wolf, and Gabby Haldemann; two great-grandchildren, Noah and Luka; a sister, Diane (Jerry) Seppanen; a brother, Daryl (Audrey) Wendt; sister-in-law, Patti (Bob Mohr) Knippel; two brothers-in-law, Jim McFadden and Gary (Teri) McFadden; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his granddaughter, Elizabeth Martin; a brother, Jerome Wendt; and two sisters-in-law, Chris McFadden and Karen McFadden.

The family would like to offer their most gracious thanks to Jodi Bardouche for all of her help and support.

A gathering of family and friends will be held at a later date.
