Feb. 11, 2019 – Slinger, WI – Conrad Andrew Fies passed away on February 10, 2018.
He was born on October 24, 1928 to immigrant parents, Andrew Otto Fies and Pauline Buhler. Dad spent his early life growing up in the Michigan Upper Peninsula. He grew up a farm kid and left Michigan to join the World War II war efforts at the age of 17. He was stationed in the Hawaiian Islands and worked in the weather tower. During that time he was awarded a certification for his participation in the A Bomb testing. After the war, work was scarce in Michigan, so he moved to Milwaukee where he learned the profession of stone masonry. He later moved to Waukesha and then Jackson before settling with his wife and family in Slinger, where he built his dream home and opened his own construction company, C & D Masonry with his partner and friend, Dale Anderson. He lived out the remainder of his life in Slinger.
He was a good father, husband, grandfather, friend and businessman. He loved flowers and gardening, always surprising his kids by planting tomato plants EVERYWHERE…vegetable gardens, flower gardens, flower pots (containing flowers and now too…tomatoes), at both his home and the homes of his children .
Dad was also a life-long fan of both the Packers and the Brewers. He often shared his pride in putting a fireplace in the home of a Milwaukee Braves ballplayer by the name of Bob Uecker. The day that they finished up the fireplace Mr. Baseball showed up with beer and kept everyone laughing for hours. What a memory!
Dad left behind his wife; Cheryl Wolf, 5 children; Larry Fies, Dale Fies, Amy Lynch (Fies), Kellie Loeb (Fies) and Timber Wolf Fies. Conrad also left behind 13 Grandchildren and 13 Great Grandchildren.
Conrad was preceded in death by his first wife, Patricia Ann Fies (nee Scott), his parents Andrew Otto Fies and Pauline Fies, sister; Rose Wilson, brothers; Phillip Fies, Milton Fies, Joseph Cadott , Sonny Cadott and grandson; Sean Lynch.
Dad, Conrad, Carney, Connie, POP, will be missed by his family and friends. The family will have a private memorial service for Conrad in the Spring, his favorite time of year. We love you. XOXO
To the family and friends of Conrad Andrew Fies. I give my deepest condolences. I would like to share a comforting thought from the bible at Acts 24:15 which says:And I have hope toward God, which hope these men also look forward to, that there is going to be a resurrection of life of both the righteous and the unrighteous.
