April 3, 2022 – Washington County, WI – Chester Bernard Moberg passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 22, 2022, in his room at Cedarhurst Senior Living. Chester was born April 17, 1933, in Shorewood, WI, the oldest son of Chester and Marie (Meininger) Moberg.
He graduated from Custer High School in January of 1951. In 1951 Chet met Helene, the love of his life, through a mutual friend. They had their first date at a New Year’s Eve party in 1951. Chet and Helene continued to date up until Chet’s deployment. During his deployment they exchanged letters. Chet was deployed from April 6, 1953, through March 30, 1955.
On December 22, 1956, Chet was united in marriage to Helene Grace Pflughoeft. The marriage was blessed with three children, Lisa, Tracey, and Randy. Chet worked at Master Lock Company in Milwaukee from 1951 until his retirement.
Outside of work, Chet enjoyed riding his bike, coaching softball, and hunting. He enjoyed doing things with his friends and visiting with his retiree friends from Master Lock. He also enjoyed playing cards and going on trips with their friends. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren and participating in their lives and activities.
Chet was a quiet, gentle and caring soul who will always remain in the hearts of his children, Lisa (Mike) Schrack, Tracey (Tom) Johnson, Randy (Eileen) Moberg; his 8 grandchildren, Zachary (Taylor) Fredrick, Samantha (George) Carlson, Ian Schrack, Ryan (Jenna) Johnson, Jackie (Andrew) Sheffield, Gina (Joe) Leonard, Tracy (Allan) Dudek and Jennifer (Daniel) Buzzell; his 9 great-grandchildren, Jordan Johnson, Nellie Johnson, Gemma Sheffield, Micah Sheffield, George Carlson, Aaron and Benjamin Dudek, Kayla and Kylie Buzzell, as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives, and dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 62 years Helene (Pflughoeft), parents Chester and Marie Moberg; mother and father-in-law Erwin and Hilda Pflughoeft; his brother Robert Moberg, his brother-in-law Theodore Kern, and his sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Fern (Russell) Steinfest, and Betty (Jerome) Doerr.
A memorial service to celebrate Chester’s life will take place on Saturday, April 9, 2022, at Trinity Lutheran Freistadt, 10729 W. Freistadt Road, Mequon, WI with Reverend Christopher Conkling officiating. The visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m. with a service to follow at 2:00 p.m. Memorials are preferred to the Cancer Society of Wisconsin.
