April 8, 2024 – Washington Co., WI – Charles Henry Oldenburg Jr., Charlie, also known as Chuck, 82, of Hartford, Wisconsin passed away Tuesday, April 2, 2024, at the Aurora St. Luke’s Medical Center in Milwaukee, WI.
Chuck was born August 8, 1941, in Milwaukee, WI to Clara O. (Linstedt) and Charles H. Oldenburg Sr. Chuck was proud to serve our country in the United States Air Force until returning home to help on the family farm. He worked for Broan Manufacturing and retired on June 1, 2007, after 47+ years. Chuck was confirmed in the Lutheran faith at Trinity Lutheran, Huilsburg in 1980.
After retirement, he worked at the Hartford Food Pantry and was instrumental in starting a food pantry at his church. Chuck enjoyed numerous hobbies over the years; three of which included fishing, gardening, and woodworking.
He enjoyed spending time with family going to art festivals and Cranfest. He enjoyed playing cribbage, sheepshead, and enjoyed all of the family gatherings. He played baseball at Tally Ho. He bowled at Dave’s Lanes where he bowled a perfect game and had his name on their wall. Later, he really enjoyed the role of grandfather and great-grandfather.
Chuck is survived by his sons, Charles H. “Chuck” (Donna Davenport) Oldenburg of New Berlin, Roderick G. (Cindy) Oldenburg of Janesville, Derric J. (Mary) Oldenburg of West Bend, and Brian Zangl (Lisa) of Lomira and Kathy Oldenburg of East Troy; grandchildren, Joey, Kate, Jacob, Jackie, Renee, Kiersten’, and Alex (fiancé Gabriel Forte); great-grandchildren, Timmy, Teddy, McCain, Jaxton, Hailey, Avery, Landon, Jackson, Klark, Alex, and Daniel; siblings: sisters Jeanette Rodriguez and June Ketelhut and brother Alvin (DeeDee). He is further survived by his dear friend, Carolyn Grudzinski, among other relatives and friends.
Chuck is preceded in death by his parents, Clara and Charles Oldenburg; two brothers-in-law, Marvin Ketelhut, and Pablo Rodriguez; and his grandson, Christopher Hasenberg.
Funeral Services for Chuck will be held Wednesday, April 10, 2024, at 5:00 p.m. with Rev. Jeffrey Drake officiating at the Shimon Funeral Home, 824 Union Street, Hartford, WI 53027. Family will greet relatives and friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 3:00 p.m. – 4:45 p.m.
