December 21, 2019 – Belgium, WI – Ben Schrap, 17, of Belgium, passed away unexpectedly in the morning hours of Thursday, December 19, 2019.
Ben was born at Columbia St. Mary’s Hospital in Mequon to Brian Schrap and Karen Baker Schrap. Ben grew up in Belgium and attended grade school and middle school in Cedar Grove, and was recently attending high school in Grafton, where he was preparing to graduate with the Class of 2020.
Ben was a member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Belgium. Ben, Benji, Benny-ha-ha, Ben-10 or his most recent nickname – “Big Country” as his friends called him, loved being in his truck playing music and kickin’ up mud while hangin’ with his closest friends. His friends say even though he loved to jokingly insult them, his heart was huge and he always dropped everything for his friends and family. His half smile and his contagious laugh reflected his super caring and loving soul. An image of him wearing his cowboy boots and sweatpants showed he had a style all his own.
Ben spent his life with his greatest passions – fishing, hunting and working on cars and trucks. He would spend hours fishing, which led him to his first job as a first mate on the Renegade II charter boat in the Port Washington Harbor.
He is survived by his loving parents both of Belgium – Brian Schrap and Karen (special friend Brad Huse) Baker Schrap. He was the youngest brother of Jacob Schrap of Port Washington, Rebecca Schrap and Samuel Schrap, both of Belgium. He is further survived by his grandparents Harold and Carol Schrap of Grafton, John “Jack” (special friend Claudean) Baker of Trenton, and Linda Baker of Cedarburg, his Aunt Pam (Justin) Strong of Neenah, Uncle Jon (Barb) Baker of Menasha, cousins, other relatives and many, many friends.
Funeral services will be celebrated on Thursday, December 26 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 701 Washington St. Grafton. Visitation will take place at the church from 3 p.m. – 6 p.m., followed by a funeral service at 6 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested For the Benefit of Benjamin Schrap, and can be made at any Port Washington State Bank location.
The Eernisse Funeral Home is honored to serve the family.
