October 29, 2023 – Washington Co, WI – On Thursday, October 19, 2023, Allen Bruggink passed away peacefully at The Waterford of West Bend.
Born in Waldo, Wisconsin on March 10, 1932, to the late Harold and Amelia (Amy) Bruggink, Al was a graduate of Random Lake High School. Soon thereafter, he served his country in the U.S. Army in Korea. After his service, he continued his education by attending MATC in Milwaukee.
In August of 1956, Al married the love of his life, Ruth (nee Nummerdor) in Chicago. Together, Al and Ruth shared 67 wonderful years filled with love, happiness, and family.
For over 30 years, he worked in maintenance at Wisconsin Gas Light in Milwaukee. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He enjoyed gardening, hunting, fishing, and using energy-saving resources such as wind and solar energy. The organizations Al belonged to were EAA, NRA, and American Legion, and was devoted to his church.
Left behind to cherish Al’s memory include his loving wife, Ruth (nee Nummerdor); his children, Kim (Mary Ann) Bruggink, Kevin Bruggink, and Kristine Bruggink; beloved grandchildren, Amy, Mercury, Dustin, and Kyler; adored great-granddaughters, Love and Evra; siblings, Rollie Bruggink, Harold “Butch” (Susy) Bruggink, Bev Winninghoff, and Lola (Ken) Lindow; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Preceding Al in death are his brothers, Eugene (Leona), Richard (Eileen), and Wayne (Carol); his sister, Doris (Ralph) Demaster; brother-in-law, Gerald “Butch” Winninghoff; and sister-in-law, Kathy Bruggink.
Al’s family would like to extend deep thanks to the caregivers at The Waterford of West Bend, and to staff from Preceptor Hospice, for all their help and care.
Services will be held on Wednesday, November 1, 2023, with visitation at 11:00 a.m., and a service at 11:30 a.m. at New Life Community Church, 11919 W. Bradley Road., Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
