Obit: William “Bill” Lemke, 89, Fond du Lac

William “Bill” Lemke, 89, of Fond du Lac died Wed. Jan, 6, 2015 at home. He was born on Sept. 19, 1926 in Fond du Lac the son of William and Hilda Rock Lemke. William served his country in WWII in the 5th Marine Division on Iwo Jima. He married Joan Rodden on Oct. 8, 1955 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Fond du Lac. He worked for Immel and Hutter Construction as a bricklayer for 40 years, retiring in 1988. Bill went on the Honor Fight to Washington, D.C. on October 18, 2012. Bill loved to garden, read, and watch the Brewers and Packers.

Survivors include his wife Joan, one son Matthew Lemke of Fond du Lac, one daughter Julie (Gary) Beyer of Oshkosh, one brother Lloyd (Betty) Lemke of Fond du Lac, one sister Marilyn (Gordon) Zoch of Fond du Lac, four brother-in-laws: Bob Georg, David Pittl, Donald Munson all of Fond du Lac, and Elwin (Sandy) Kalmerton of Oshkosh and one sister-in-law Carol Lemke of Fond du Lac, his nieces and nephews, and many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers: Marvin and Wesley Lemke and three sisters: Patricia Georg, LaVerne Papenfuss, and Alice Pittl.

 

No services were held according to Bill’s wishes. Cremation will take place. A special thanks to our neighbors Mike and Sigrid Nanna and Boots Weilgosh. Online condolences and guestbook at www.twohigfunerals.com. The Twohig Funeral Home assisted the family with the arrangements.
